A publication on Reddit’s R/Indianworkplace Subreddit was recently published after a WhatsApp conversation employee shared his manager, who refused to grant leave for a headache. The post, entitled “My manager when I ask for leave,” Chat screenshots included and quickly anger on social media.

In the conversation, the employee stated that he suffers from a headache and may need a holiday. His manager’s response was explicit: “Take the medicine and come. It is nothing, it will improve. It’s just a headache.”

When the employee later informed the manager that the headache continued and could not enter, the manager doubled – replied, “Take the medicine hero. Don’t get a vacation for a headache. What are you talking about? You are no longer at school anymore. You are part of the company now. Take some comfort if necessary, but come to the office.”

The tone rejecting the exchange – especially the “Take the Medicine Hero” line – struck a tendon on the Internet, and symbolizes the absence of sympathy that is often seen in the hierarchical serials of companies.

Since then, the publication has become viral, as users have criticized a toxic culture culture that gives priority to attending employees’ welfare. One Reddor hung, “This is very terrible. You have the right to obtain a satisfactory leave, just apply for one.” Another added, “Always remember that they will not think twice before replacing you. Never give up 100 % for such companies.”

Many users also shared practical advice, urging employees to set borders and maintain documentation of these cases. “Note all the like – messages, messages, or recordings. When the right time comes, click on it with all these compact evidence,” One of the commentators wrote.

The viral publication sparked talks on employee rights, mental health, and the limits of the workplace in India – where many argue that the normalization of this administrative behavior is not respected and not frustrated.

A user also summarizes properly: “If your company does not respect your health, it does not deserve your hard work.”
