About 4900 yellow river turtles, also known as Traceajás, were launched in the Igapó-Açu River, in Brazil.
The species threatened in river ponds live in Northern America, and the Federal University in Amazonas runs projects aimed at strengthening the numbers of turtles for a decade.
At the time, more than 70,000 turtles were released to live in the wild.
