PTI reported that the Ministry of Information Technology is closely monitoring the decision of Tata Consultance Services’ (TCS) by laying off more than 12,000 employees, citing sources. He is in contact with the company and aims to understand the reasons behind this step. The growth of employment is still a major governmental priority, with initiatives such as the incentive plan associated with employment that aims to enhance job creation. Focusing is also strong on skill efforts and resets.
The largest information technology services company in India, TCS, plans to lay off 12,261 employees – 2 % of its global operating power – this year. The discounts will primarily affect medium and adult roles. As of June 30, 2025, TCS had a total workforce 6,13,069, with a net addition of 5,000 employees in the quarter of April to June.
Workers’ demobilization is part of a larger strategic shift. “TCS is on a trip to become a ready organization for the future. This includes strategic initiatives on multiple fronts, including investing in new technology areas, entering new markets, spreading artificial intelligence to our customers and ourselves, deepening our partnerships, creating infrastructure for the next generation, and re -coordinating our workforce.
“Toward that, there were a number of re -delivery and publication initiatives. As part of this trip, we will also issue partners from the organization that may not be possible. This will affect about 2 percent of our global workforce, primarily in the middle -class septum, throughout the year,” the company said in a statement.
“This is not because of artificial intelligence that gives about 20 percent of productive gains,” said CEO K “We will continue to search for high -quality talent,” he added, noting that TCS raises more than 550,000 employees in AI and emerging technologies.
The gradual disposal of workers will be eliminated through the 26th fiscal year and based on skills and capabilities. “It is basically the skill and ability on a basis,” said Krithivasan. With the transformation of TCS away from traditional waterfall models, the demand for layers of driving teams decreases. “When we did programs in the old waterfall method, we had multiple driving teams. This changed,” he pointed out.
TCS confirmed that the process will be sympathetic, with separation, consultations, and support to affected employees.
