As we have seen in many of its best episodes, “9-1-1” thrives on being unexpected. From the beginning, the procedural procedures, from the participating creators, Ryan Murphy, Tim Mineer, and Brad Valcock, were an exploration for a week to a week -like -liked to be a first respondent in the emergency situations in Los Angeles as much as it is related to the wild and wonderful personal life of these people. One of the strong exhibition heroes is the Lapd Athena Grant (Angela Bassett’s majestic), for his first time as the wife of Michael Grant (Romand Dunbar) and Umm to May and Harry (Corin Masia and Marcanthon John Reese, respectively). In the series, as much as ATHENA is able to confirm it when wearing a shield and weapon of a LAPD officer, we learn that her personal life is chaotic when Michael reveals to their children that during their marriage, he is gay. This decision will lead to the divorce of Athens, although Michael remained close to the family.

In fact, Michael Grant has been a long part of “9-1-1” although he was not responding first. However, a few network actions are immune to the departure of ordinary characters, and “9-1-1” is no exception. In the middle of the fifth season of the show, Michael suddenly left to move to Haiti with his partner, who was now working. The fact that this departure occurred in the middle of the season, instead of its conclusion, may make some viewers think it was not completely planned. As it turns out, these viewers will be right. When RockMond Dunbar “9-1-1” left in the middle of the fifth season, he did so for religious and medical reasons, and the latter relates to Covid-19 epidemic. Let’s publish what made him leave this big series and legal repercussions to leave.

Because Dunbar refused to obtain a Covid-19 vaccine and prohibited exemptions, he left 9-1-1 and ended up prosecuting Disney

By the autumn of 2021, the Covid-19 vaccine was high in ordering to ensure that people can return to living some of their normal daily forms after several months under quarantine. Of course, the world of television, which requires large groups of people behind or in front of the camera, was somewhat close to each other, a world that strongly needs the vaccine … and most importantly, the actors and crew members who were ready to vaccinate. Romand Dunbar was among those who were not willing, and although he tried to follow up exemptions for medical and religious reasons, Walt Disney (which produced and distributed “9-1-1”) chose to deprive him of these exemptions. (It is worth noting that he was not the only actor in Disney who pushes back; unforgettable Leitia Wright from “Black Tiger” films and refused to seize them.

This is not rank speculation, too. Dunbar’s special cabin, subscribed to that time with Delivery dateAnd she explained, “I applied for religious and medical places in accordance with the law, and unfortunately it was rejected by the employer.” Interestingly, the port noticed that Dunbar was not perceived, at the time, as an anti -fax control. The case became more complicated after a few months, when Dunbar filed a lawsuit against Disney and accused the company of racial discrimination, claiming that the non -black actors in the exhibition were given exemptions from vaccines, but it was not. Although his medical disability has never been clarified, a lawsuit claimed that because of the debt he followed, the Church of Comprehensive Wisdom, he must be able to obtain an exemption from Disney who rejected it.

As of early 2025, Dunbar’s lawsuit may go to trial based on only one claim: whether Disney violates the seventh title of the Civil Rights Law by rejecting religious exemption. Dunbar has since appeared in a number of films and TV programs, including the latest Tyler Perry “Straw”, but it is easy to ask about the impact of this issue on his career.

The loss of Michael Grant on 9-1-1 helped focus the offer capacity in subsequent seasons

While it is undoubtedly correct that Michael Grant left “9-1-1” in an unexpected and very fast way, it is difficult to say that his departure is a great loss. The fact that Michael was not the first respondent caused conflicts between him and Athens, as well as her new husband, Bobby Nash (Peter Crawr), who killed himself in the eighth season. Michael admired the time these people did, but they also could not feel the horror of the danger they found themselves on a daily basis. This is not that this reaction is incredible or not justified, but it often felt one of the only notes that Michael can play for week after week. It is clear that “9-1-1” did not try to create a new character that mainly replaced Michael’s spot in the show, but by removing it, the series ended with the lack of this creatively lost.

It is technically true that since Michael is still alive and kick, and because “9-1-1” is a pleasant offer, we can always see his return. But given the open state of the lawsuit imposed by Rorkond Dunbar at the Walt Disney Company, which specifically surrounds him from removing it from the series, it is more likely that Michael Grant is one of those characters that we confirm that we do not hear again. This is despite the fact that Athens lost Bobby due to illness, and there is no doubt that she wants to cry on the shoulder in the foreseeable future. Michael Grant has reached this offer in an unexpected manner, and he left. It is appropriate that “9-1-1” was able to pull it as well as the offer.
