The New York Giants have a new fan favorite in their backfield and his name is Him Cam tax po.

Skattebo hails from Rio Linda, California, and was drafted by the New York Giants in the fourth round (105th overall) of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Arizona. Known for his bold style and fearless attitude, Scatepo quickly caught the eye in New York.

The running back has garnered attention around the league for his powerful stride, no-nonsense attitude and confidence that borders on fearlessness.

Here are five things to know about the Giants rookie:

1. He dominated high school sports in California

Born in a small town in February 2002, Scatepo started out as a dual-sport player, playing baseball and football at Rio Lindo High School.

As a baseball player, he had a career average of .342 and hit eight home runs during his junior and senior seasons.

But his true calling was football. When he became the starter in the 2018-19 season, he rushed for 3,550 yards and 42 touchdowns as a junior and helped his team win a state championship.

That season earned him the 2018 Sacramento Bee Offensive Player of the Year award and he earned a Division I scholarship to play football at Sacramento State in 2020. He finished his high school career with over 7,000 receiving yards and scored nearly 100 total touchdowns.

2. His path to the NFL was all about determination

Skattebo’s journey to the NFL is straight out of a movie. He starred at Sacramento State before transferring to Arizona State in 2023, where he became one of the most versatile running backs in college football.

At ASU, he led the team in rushing yards, receptions and touchdowns, and made headlines for his confidence.

“They keep saying people are going to try to stop me,” Scatipo said during the 2024 Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl media day. “There’s no one who can stop me. We’ve played 13 games, and I’ve been a goal in every one of them, so I’m not too worried. We’ll play our game and play ball and see what happens.”

This belief has helped him excel even on struggling Sun Devils teams. When asked how he prepares for elite defenses, he told Sports Illustrated in 2023. “If they’re studying hard, there’s a reason. I have complete respect for them because they understand what they’re playing against, and that’s why I love playing in games like this, because they constantly look at me as a threat, and that’s something I’ve always wanted to be.”

3. He plays angrily and loves it

At 5-foot-10 and 220 pounds, Skattebo’s low running style has drawn comparisons to the former NFL Pro-Bowl running back Marshawn Lynch. He prides himself on going through people, not around them. After scoring three points in Arizona State’s season finale, he let his true feelings be heard.

“Nobody respects the fact that I’m the best runner in the country,” he told SI.com after the Big 12 Championship in 2024. “I’m going to stand up for that. If people want to disrespect that, I’m going to keep working and I’m going to keep proving people wrong.”

Giants quarterback and fellow rookie Jackson Dart said something similar after the team’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles in October 2025, in which Scatepo scored three touchdowns.

“I mean he’s crazy, bro. He’s crazy,” Dart said. “But he’s a ballplayer, man. When we come here, we really try to change the culture of intensity. He played his ass off tonight. I love him.”

4. He’s already a favorite in the New York locker room

Skattebo’s sense of humor and originality made him a hit with his teammates. Following their win over the Eagles, Skattebo joined Dart in the postgame office at Amazon Prime He proceeded to tear off his shirt Along with the former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. This led to a massive roar from the Giants faithful along with chants of “Skatt-e-bo!”

Another hilarious moment occurred during a Giants coach Brian DabollPress conference in September 2025.

While Daboll was trying to answer a question about the team’s home opener against the Kansas City Chiefs, He was interrupted by a loud voice By Scatepo’s screams as he left the field from training.

“Sorry, Scatipoo,” Daboll said as if this kind of interaction was an everyday occurrence. “Can you repeat (that question), please. It’s like this pretty much all the time.”

If you haven’t heard of him, there’s a good chance You will eventually “hear” it.

5. Off the field, he is interested in family and fishing

While he plays like a battering ram on Sundays, Scatipo’s life away from football is quiet and simple.

He has remained close to his family, a bond represented by the number he wears on the field: 44.

“Obviously I wanted No. 4, but he’s retired,” Scatipo told Kay Adams in an interview with Panini America. “My brother wore No. 44 in high school and growing up, and I’ve worn it many times in the past, so it’s kind of a family number, a generational thing for me and my family. I wear No. 4 for me and No. 4 for him.”

his mother, Becky Scatipowrapped it up perfectly when he spoke to ABC15 Arizona in January about how he was raised.

“We bought every car seat on the market and he didn’t want to stay in it,” she said. “He started walking when he was 7 months old. His balance was there from day one and he figured it out. He’s been running ever since.”
