A well-known American football player, an aspiring young nurse and the mother of a four-year-old boy were among the victims of the New Year’s Day attack in New Orleans in which at least 15 people were killed.

Their names are revealed by their families and relatives before the authorities complete post-mortem examinations.

Here’s what we know so far.

Martin “Tiger” Peck

Martin “Tiger” Beck is a former Princeton University football player.

His death was confirmed in a university statement.

“There could not have been a more fitting nickname for the Princeton player I coached,” Princeton football coach Bob Surace said in a statement.

“He was a tiger through and through, a fierce competitor with endless energy, a beloved colleague and a caring friend.”

Jack Beck, Martin Beck’s brother, posted a tribute on X alongside a news article reporting his death.

“Love you always brother!” books. “You inspired me every day, and now you can be with me every moment. You’ve got this family T, don’t worry. This is for us.”

Mr. Bech was a member of the 2016 and 2018 Ivy League championship teams.

Nekira Cheyenne Dido

The 18-year-old was an aspiring nurse.

Her mother, Melissa Dido, confirmed her death on social media.

“I lost my child, just pray for me and my family please!!! Oh my God, I need you now!!” the mother pleaded with a photo of her daughter wearing a red graduation cap and gown from this year.

Ms Dido – who is also a nurse – told local media Nola that her daughter was due to start her nursing training later this month.

She added that Nekira snuck out with her cousin and her boyfriend, and they both survived.

Reggie Hunter

The death of the store manager and father-of-two was confirmed to CBS News, BBC News’ partner in the US, by his cousin Cheryl Robinson-Jackson.

Ms Jackson described him as “full of life” and said the 37-year-old sent a message to the family minutes after midnight to wish them a happy Christmas soon.

He was with another cousin who was injured in the attack.

Nicole Perez

Kimberly Asher Fall, Perez’s friend and the head of the deli where she worked, described her as a “dedicated, smart, kind-hearted person,” according to CBS.

The 27-year-old was also the mother of a four-year-old boy.

Matthew Tenidorio

The 25-year-old audio-visual technician had a “laid-back spirit and an infectious laugh” that brought joy to those around him, according to a fundraiser his family held in his name.

His mother, Cathy Tenidorio, told NBC News that she last saw her son alive at 21:00 local time on New Year’s Eve, adding that she remembers hugging and kissing him.
