The Ministry of Internal Security has ended a policy that allowed individuals from Afghanistan to stay in the United States as long as their original homeland is considered unsafe. But defenders of thousands of Afghan refugees who fled to the United States after the chaotic withdrawal in 2021 warned that many of them might face targeted threats if they were forced to return.
