While a lot of the hype around DC Studios has fans looking forward (Or higher in this case) l SupermanBack to the silver screen This July, weekly viewers will see James Gunn’s adult animated series Commando Creatures They just got their first look at Batman.
In the sixth episode of Commando CreaturesTitled “Priyatel Skelet,” we learn about the origins of Creature Commandos member Dr. The episode begins with a shot of the Gotham City skyline, resembling the fanfare of an orchestra Batman: The Animated Seriesand a reference shot of a stone gutter overlooking the city, setting the stage for the Dark Knight’s presence throughout the episode through iconography and leitmotifs. In the same spirit as the previous episodes, which move from the past to the present, and shed light on the backstory of characters such as the bride, GI robot, weaseland Frankenstein Beyond their first impressions as C-grade villains, “Priyatel Skelet” offers insight into how Alexander James Sartorius went from a scientist forced to work for the mob to the walking nuclear skeleton he is today.

Midway through the episode, it is revealed that what initially started out as a nuclear fusion therapy to cure cancer quickly turned into a torture method inflicted on Sartorius by the mob after his wife was murdered. After he survived it The flyDecadence-esque, Dr. Vovirus takes revenge on the mob and becomes a major leader in Gotham. That is until Batman’s silhouette, backlit by a lightning strike in the nightclub’s skylight, sums up the Russian folk dance party.
Unfortunately, the slice of blue lightning on Batman’s imposing frame doesn’t reveal as meaty details as what his suit’s design would look like. Talk to Rotten tomatoesGunn revealed that we only got a glimpse of Batman in the final episode of the series Commando Creatures Because he wasn’t quite ready to commit to designing the hero suit.
“When they first showed me the episode, there was a lot of Batman,” Gunn told Rotten Tomatoes. And I said, “I’m not ready to commit to that…More silhouettes!”
We see how Gunn previously revealed that Superman actor David Corenswet had to convince him to bid Kal-El Trunks with his appearance on the silver screen After shooting bullshit with Zack Snyder about failed screen tests that didn’t make the look work, it would stand to reason that a chested Batman would be another sticking point that Gunn isn’t quite ready to commit to right now. One thing we know about Batman in… A revamped version of the DCU Is that we will never see his origin story again.
“(Batman) already exists in this universe, just as he did when we arrived Superman film. We see (that) Superman really exists. “He’s already known to the people of Metropolis,” Gunn said. “We don’t need to hear the origin story again. This is just a way of introducing Batman to this universe. He’s an important part of this universe, and he has an influence on it, including defeating very dangerous and scary people like Phosphorus, and he’s a very powerful person.”
The seventh and final episode of Commando CreaturesSeason 1 premieres January 9 on HBO and HBO Max. The show has also been renewed for a second season.
