Do you want? Feel safe at home. This is just the bedrock of living. You need a place that makes you feel comfortable, calm, and motivated to do the job Life challenges. But what happens? When home is not safe? What if your safety was challenged by a mysterious presence that just appeared out of nowhere and started taunting you? It’s not a fun idea, which is why it’s also a great introduction to the movie.
It’s a hypothesis Woman in the yarddirected by Jaume Collet Serra (carry, Black Adam), which opens on March 28. It stars Daniel Deadwyler (Station eleven, so) As a mother of two children, she lost her husband in a car accident. Things seem bad enough but then a mysterious woman dressed in black appears out of nowhere in their yard. And he just sits there. Check out the disturbing trailer for Woman in the yard.
It’s like Home invasion movie but worse. Home invasion movies are scary because they are scenarios where the safety and sanctity of your home is threatened. However, it is less a home invader and more a house stalker. The woman sitting on the patio, warning the character that “today is the day,” creates a crazy, terrifying tension and anticipation. We’re very much here for that.
So what’s the woman’s deal? Where did it come from? What did she want? Universal’s official plot description gives us a little tease: “Ramona assumes the woman (Okwui Okpokwasili; “Ramona”). Al-Mu’awwidhatayn: The believer, Julie Taymor A Midsummer Night’s Dream) is lost or crazy, but as the woman gets closer and closer to home, it becomes clear that she is no ordinary person and that her intentions are anything but peaceful. Now Ramona must rally to protect herself and her children from the clutches of the woman who won’t leave them alone. Oh no, it’s “closer and closer to home?” No, no, no. I don’t like this. Not a little.
We’re guessing it’s the ghost of someone involved in the car accident, right? Or maybe something a little creepier and more clever? We’ll find out on March 28.
