Wayne Rooney opened about the role his wife, Kullen, played to help him overcome dangerous conflicts with alcohol during his playing days, describing her support as life saving.
The former Manchester United striker, 39, has moved, who retired as the best scorer in the history of United and England – although Harry Kane has passed since then.
Despite his career, which included winning in the Champions League with Manchester United in 2008 and securing five Premier League titles in Old Trafford, Rooney admits that he is “gold away” with drinking. He is attributed to Kolin, his wife since 2008, while keeping him alive.
“I wanted to go out and enjoy my time with my friends and spend a night abroad,” Rooney told his former United teamside Rio Ferdinand in Rio Ferdinand Podcast.
“It has reached a point where I went away, of course I did.
“This was a moment in my life where I was suffering greatly with alcohol. I widespread widespread and I didn’t think I could resort to anyone.
“I really didn’t want it because I did not want to put this burden on anyone.”
During his career, Rooney faced disciplinary issues related to alcohol. It was dropped by Sir Alex Ferguson in December 2011 to break the curfew and spend the night in a cocktail bar in Soutbort.
He also publicly apologized to the director of England Gareth Southgate in November 2016 after publishing “inappropriate” pictures of him at a wedding during an international break.
Ronnie described the occasions in which he was reported to have two days in a row. “
He said, “I remember going to training and laying eye drops, chewing gum.”
“I just drank for two consecutive days, and I went (in) training, and at the weekend, I scored two goals, then I will return, go and drink for two days again.”
When he was asked about who helped him overcome these difficulties, Rooney was unambiguous about the effect of Colin.
“A massive colin,” he said.
“It is bad because we are two children from Croxteh (Liverpool) and then we grew up together and we are clearly starting to dating and married and gave birth to children.
“But when I was 17 years old, she saw, I knew my mind and knew that I was there a little there.
“You know, I loved my football, obsessed with football, but I also loved a night outside or anything that comes out.
She saw it very early as she controlled her. Well, it was not controlled but helped me control it widely.
“Sometimes you love” What do you do? “Why do you still say,“ Don’t do this or not do that? ”How did you manage it because I needed management.
“I believe honestly if (colin) was not dead.
))
“I have made mistakes in the past, which were well documented and whatever, but I am a little different sometimes while keeping me on this path and I did it for 20 years.”
