The sky was blue like the famous waters of Lake Tahoe when Gloria Brigantino and her friends decided to mark and obtain a rum cocktail. She started to feel cold, and the winds were picking up.
On the beach, a band was playing, and people were swimming – children running in swimming clothes with the start of the first official weekend in the summer in these famous holidays in California.
It seems that within a few minutes on Saturday that everything has changed. A storm moved, and sent tents and housing flying. White water covered with 8 feet (2.5 meters) enlarged multiple boat caps, including a 27 -foot ship full of tourists.
On Monday, officials confirmed two other people on this boat dead – as the death toll was raised to eight.
Mrs. Brigantino, who was visiting the famous Alpine Lake between California and Nevada with friends from Texas and California, watched, while boats were crashing with each other, mixing their marinals and destroying them on the beach. The wind winds that reached 35 miles per hour (56 km/h) until they brought a short snow.
She saw safely on the ground while the boat and her friends were on board, which drowned some of her personal collection’s property.
“Some of the boat owners were crying while their boats were shattered,” she told the BBC, adding that people were risking their lives to help the rented boats to empty the passengers as people were trying out fiercely leaving the water in exacerbation conditions.
By that time, the band was packaged and fled. She said that their stage was now underwater.
“I could smell the gas leakage,” Ms. Brigantino said. “The waves have just hit them very quickly, they fled, fell, and many of them were crying.”
Within 35 minutes of coming to the beach, she says she returned nine boats stacked in front of them.
Brigantino is self -described beef and was far from her friends who all work in Western industry with horses. They were there to enjoy and help a friend in making social media content of a Western nature. The photos and videos of their journey showed the group that dances with drinks and demonstrated in the festive hats on the boat before the storm.
Mrs. Brigantino said that she grew up in Lake Tahoe and knew that the weather could change quickly.
“This suddenly happened. The water was screaming towards the beach,” she said. “It was bad.”
Mrs. Brigantino says he was expected to be bad weather, but no one expected this power to be. She and others expressed their regret that they did not see such a storm in the quiet Lake Tahoe for decades, if any.
The authorities announced on Monday that they had found two additional bodies after a 27 -foot tourist boat turned.
Ten people from that ship fell into the water at about 15:00 local time on Saturday and only two were found alive, according to the Coast Guard.
The Dorado Sharif County Office did not specify any of the victims – although they said that the six people who were initially found were all adults.
“The identity of the deceased will not be released from this terrible accident until appropriate notifications are made,” the authorities said in a statement.
The accident occurred in the southwestern corner of Lake Tahoe, the largest lake of the Alps in North America. The region is famous for the sun – the mountains surrounded by the mountains in Sierra Nevada.
The storm went at the speed it reached.
Pictures of MS BRIGANTINO and videos show the gray sky and huge swelling disappears by 16:30, as sunlight and clear sapphire water returns to Lake Tahoe.
