India off-spinner Washington Sundar cleaned off West Indies’ Alec Athanasi on the third day (Sunday, October 12) of the second and final Test match between the two teams. The left-arm spinner beat the left-handed batsman with a brilliant delivery just before the tea break at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
India beat West Indies by 248 runs in the first innings. Kuldeep Yadav was the standout performer with a five-wicket haul, while Ravindra Jadeja took an important three wickets. Alec Athanasi top-scored with 41 points. Tajinarine Chanderpaul and Shai Hope got good starts but were unable to capitalize on them.

John Campbell and Alec Athanazi tried to end the session without further losses. However, Washington Sundar produced a near-perfect rendition of Athanaz Castle. The off-spinner moved the ball towards middle stump before turning sharply away.
Athanazi, who attempted a defensive push, was beaten from the late action when the ball hit his torso. The left-handed batsman had to leave after scoring seven off 17 balls. This was Sundar’s first wicket of the match and a dream ball for any spinner. Athanazi was left stunned by his dismissal.
