Ukrainian President Foludmir Zelinski said on Monday that he nominated First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Sfiridino to lead the Council of Ministers and “renew his work significantly”, in the most prominent of his government since Russia’s invasion of Russia on a large scale.

If Parliament approves it, Svydenko, who is currently working as Minister of Economy, will replace the current Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal to become the nineteenth prime minister in her country. Shmayal has served in the role since 2020.

Zelenskyy wrote on X that he met Svydenko, 39, who led negotiations on the high -risk metal deal with the United States, and told her that a new prime minister was needed in the “Executive Branch”.

“We have also discussed concrete measures to increase the economic capabilities of Ukraine, expand support programs for the Ukrainians, and increase the production of local weapons,” he wrote.

Svydenko is a close ally of Andrei Yermak, the Chief of Staff Zelinski. It is also seen with strong relationships with the Donald Trump team after leading the metal talks alongside US Treasury Secretary Scott Pesin.
