In the new, aptly titled Netflix documentary Victoria BeckhamThe fashion designer let the cameras document her life while preparing for Paris Fashion Week 2024.
Before showing off her latest look on the runway, Beckham, 51, recalled her singing experience. With the Spice Girls.
“Very early on, we were working with amazing hair stylists and amazing makeup artists, and I learned a lot,” she said. “The other girls weren’t really into fashion. That left me with a really nice budget.”
When a producer asked Beckham what she did with the Spice Girls’ clothing budget, the singer – who goes by the moniker Posh Spice – said she took full advantage.
“I went to Gucci,” she revealed. “I had never owned designer clothes before, so this was very new and exciting.”
The Spice Girls rose to fame in the 1990s with their hits like “Spice Up Your Life,” “Say You’ll Be There,” and “Wannabe.”
beckham, Geri Halliwell (ginger spice), Mel b (scary spices), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Space) and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) later took an indefinite hiatus in 2000, before returning for a world tour that culminated in a performance at the 2012 London Summer Olympics.

“I love the Spice Girls. I really do,” Beckham said. In an interview with Women’s clothing daily On Sunday, October 5, Beckham posted about her hopes of launching stores in the US and launching new categories such as lingerie and sportswear.
“I say dream big — and I dream bigger,” she told the publication. “But even I never dreamed of being where I am now. We’ve spent years securing the foundations, and I really feel like I’m only scratching the surface now.”
As for why she wanted to make the documentary at this time in her life, Beckham explained that she is much more than just Posh Spice.
“I’ve been in the fashion world for almost two decades and I still fight preconceived notions of the Spice Girl,” she said. “I said ‘no’ for a long time, but then I watched a lot of different fashion documentaries and realized the time was right.”
