The US Navy plans to remove the name of the gay and veteran leader of the navy, Harvey Milk, from one of its ships, and other ships have changed to honor civil rights leaders.

The plans in the documents obtained by the American CBS News of the BBC that show a schedule when the USNS Harvey Milk with the audience is shared.

It comes during the month of Brid in June, and it is an annual celebration of the gay community that coincides with the anniversary of the riots in Stonnol in 1969.

This guidance also comes amid a broader movement by the Trump administration to reduce programs that enhance diversity and integration through federal administrations.

Sean Parnell, a Pentagon spokesman, told CBS on Tuesday that the renames of the US Harvey Milk is to reorganize the US military with the aim of “re -establishing a warrior culture” in the armed forces.

The memorandum calls for the naval secretary John Villan to choose a new name for Fleet Oiler. After that, this change will be connected to other American naval officials after a legal review.

It also shows other ships recommended to be renamed, including USNS Ruth Bader Ginsburg, which was named after the late Liberal Supreme Court, and USNS Harriet Tubman, which was named after the American slavery nerve.

Harvey Milk is publicly famous as the first public gay man to be elected to public positions in California, and won a seat in the San Francisco Supervisors Council. He was assassinated 10 months after his deposit.

The batch comes to rename Usns Harvey after a direction issued by Defense Minister Beit Higseth earlier this year, directing American military personnel to stop hosting events related to the months of heritage or awareness.

This guidance prevented resources and workforce from using events such as the month of Braid, the month of black history and the month of the history of women, noting the concerns that it will undermine unity in the army.

US President Donald Trump also issued executive orders earlier this year that diversity, fairness and integration (Dei) in the government, made the US official policy of recognition of both sexes, males and females.

Dei supporters say they are treating reducing historical representation and discrimination against some groups, including ethnic minorities, but critics say that such initiatives are their distinctions.

Permanent Democrats have criticized the transition to the renamance of Harvey’s milk and other ships, including former Parliament spokesman Nancy Pelosi.

In a statement of CBS, Pelosi described this step as “erasing revenge for those who fought to destroy the barriers for all to chase the American dream.”

The leader of the Democratic Senate Chic Schumer wrote on Tuesday that Higseth “must be ashamed of himself and this immediately reflected.”
