Russian officials said on Sunday that Ukrainian drone attack on an oil warehouse near the Sochi resort in Russia Black Black Sea set a big fire.
Regional Krasnodar Regional Governor Vinnamin Condateev said that more than 120 firefighters tried to extinguish the fire, after hitting the debris from a drone fell a fuel tank. Social media videos seem to show huge pillars of smoke that rises over the oil warehouse.
The Civil Aviation Authority in Russia, Rozavatia, has temporarily suspended flights at Sochi Airport.
To the north, the authorities in the Voronez region reported that four people were injured in another drone.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said that its air defenses shot down 93 Ukrainian drones over Russia and the Black Sea during the night until Sunday.
Russian strike in southern Ukraine
Meanwhile, in southern Ukraine, a Russian missile strike hit a residential area in the city of Miklav, according to government emergency services, seven people were injured.
The Ukrainian Air Force said on Sunday that Russia fired 76 drones and seven missiles against Ukraine. 60 drones and one missile were intercepted, but 16 others and six missiles hit targets in eight sites.
The mutual attacks ended one of the bloodiest weeks in Ukraine in recent months, after the killing of a Russian attack and the missile on Thursday 31 people, including five children, and wounded more than 150.
They came at the time that US President Donald Trump came on Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin, to a shorter deadline – August 8 – for peace efforts to make progress.
US President Donald Trump, who appeared alongside UK Prime Minister Kiir Starmer on Monday, told reporters that he would make a final date that he put on Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine, adding: “We do not see any progress made.”
Trump said on Thursday that Steve Witkev’s envoy is heading to Russia to push Moscow to agree to a ceasefire in its war with Ukraine and threatened new economic sanctions if progress has not been made.
Ukraine and Russia agree to swap prisoners
Ukrainian President Folodimir Zelinski said on Sunday that Ukraine and Russia agreed to exchange 1,200 prisoners in the wake of the last negotiation round in Istanbul in July.
“There is an agreement to exchange 1,200 people,” he wrote on X, saying that the lists of individuals to be replaced were working on them and that they are working to “cancel the ban on our civilians’ return.”
There was no immediate comment from Russia.
Zelinski also said that he discussed with senior Ukrainian officials, “The path of negotiation is, specifically, the implementation of the agreements reached during the meetings with the Russian side in Istanbul, as well as preparations for a new meeting.”
Each of the three talks between the two countries this year resulted in the exchange of prisoners, but they did not break out to reach the ceasefire.
