Ukraine rejects the Russian call for a three -day ceasefire

President Folodimir Zelinski said on Saturday that Ukraine will not commit to a three -day ceasefire proposed by Russia, saying that such a short truce will not help negotiations for permanent peace.

In March, Ukraine accepted a proposal from the Trump administration for a 30 -day ceasefire, followed by talks on matters, including the armistice site, steps to protect a nuclear power plant occupied by the Russian army and the deployment of a potential European peacekeeping force.

On Saturday, Mr. Zellinski told Kiev that the Russian anti -ceasefire for three days covers the anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe, an important political holiday in Russia, just a “theatrical performance”.
