UEFA asserts that EEFA 2028 will have to compete in the qualifiers

UEFA confirmed the qualifying coordination of Euro 2028, declaring that the England, Wales, Scotland and Republic of Ireland will all have to compete for a place in the championship, albeit with a back road to the finals available to them.

The tournament will watch games in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool and Newcastle, with Cardiff, Dublin and Ghalasco as well, as well as hosted the matches.

UEFA made an official on Wednesday at an executive meeting in Bilbao that qualifying for the championship of 24 teams will witness 12 groups consisting of four or five teams, with the winners of the group and eight of the second best positions automatically to the finals.

Two backup sites in the finals will also be provided to any host country that does not qualify directly for the finals.

England is expected to qualify with little difficulty, but these insurance spots significantly increase the hopes of Wales, Scotland and Ireland.

Scotland qualified for both the last two European championships, as it came out in the group stage in 2024 after doing the same thing in Euro 2020. They have not won a match in the championship since 1996.

Wales was famous in the semi -finals in 2016 and reached the round of five years after the EURO 2020 championship, but they did not qualify for Euro 2024. Ireland has not played in the euro since 2016.

Northern Ireland’s backup sites, who are no longer considered the tournament hosts after removing the Belfast Park in Kassent as a place that follows problems with re -development plans.

The remaining sites will be determined through the matches between the second place remaining in the qualified group and the winners of the 2026-27 League Group who did not qualify for the tournament.

However, the number of places available through the matches that separate two and four may vary, with a number in the number of backups used by home countries.

If both seized holes are used, eight teams will compete in two tracks for the remaining two places, as they compete for the semi -finals and the finals.

One opening will witness the use of 12 teams competing in three separate paths with the semi -finals of the leg and the finals of the remaining three sites.

A scenario in which none of the seized openings are not taken to eight teams competing for four of the home qualifying links, with the winners advanced to the finals.
