Officials said at least two people were killed, and 27 were wounded in the wake of a Russian air strike at a shopping center in the city of Dobubilia in the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine.

Regional ruler Vadim Villachkin at Telegram said that more than 50 stores, 300 apartments and eight cars were damaged in the attack on Wednesday evening.

In his night speech, President Folodimir Zelinski described the blow as “shocking simply” and said that there is no “military logic” for him. Russia did not comment.

This comes at a time when the US special envoy to Ukraine, Keith Keel, is in Kyiv on a week -long journey to discuss the initial American cooperation with Zelinski.

“The Russians again targeted a deliberate area where there are many people – a shopping center in the city center.”

“This time with a 500 kg air bomb (1100 pounds).”

Villachkin said the bomb was dropped at 17:20 local time (14:20 GMT) when the area was busy with people to shop.

It is 20 km (12 miles) from the front lines, and the northeast of the city of Boukerrovsk – a pivotal point for the slow progress of Russia in the Dobubilia region – Dobubilia has undergone other attacks since Russia has launched its full invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

In March, a missile, a drone and 11 missiles were killed in the city, including five children.

Meanwhile, the mayor of Moscow Serge Sobianin said that the Russian Ministry of Defense had shot down three drones heading towards the capital in the early hours of Thursday morning.

He said that the emergency service was working on the location of the debris, but he did not mention the victims. Ukraine did not comment on strikes.

It comes after US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Ukraine should not target Moscow with strikesAfter the Financial Times reported that on July 4, Trump encouraged Ukraine separately to escalate attacks on Russia.

Russia has escalated drones and missiles throughout Ukraine in recent weeks, killing more than 230 civilians in June, according to the United Nations – the largest number of killing in one month during the three years of the war.

Trump was increasingly growing that his efforts to end the war did not rise to a ceasefire or a major breakthrough.

After a meeting with NATO President Mark Retty in Washington on Monday, Trump said he was “disappointed” with Vladimir Putin and the fact that “his very nice phone calls with the Russian president often follow air strikes in Ukraine.

“After that, three or four times happens, saying: The hadith does not mean anything,” Trump said.

He warned that he would impose severe sanctions on Moscow if a peace agreement was not reached within 50 days.

The US President also announced that the United States will send “weapons from the best line” to Kiev across NATO to ensure “Ukraine can do what it wants to do.”
