Two Austrian women moved at birth after 35 years

I met two Austrian women, who were replaced at birth in a hospital in the southern city of Graz with each other after 35 years.

Doris Grunwald and Jessica Bumgartner were born in Lkh -uniklinikum in Graz in October 1990, according to Austrian reports.

Both are premature. Soon after their birth, the two children were accidentally replaced and given to other family parents.

Then in 2012, Mrs. Grenaldd discovered that she was not the biological daughter of her parents, Evelyn and Joseph, when she donated blood, and realized that her blood type did not match her mother.

I reported the Austrian public broadcaster in the case in 2016, but at the time it was not possible to find the other family.

Herbert and Monica Deerr did not emerge, Mrs. Bougartner, far from getting away. She discovered that her blood type does not match her parents when she became pregnant, and the doctor told her about the condition of the children who were replaced.

Jessica called Doris via Facebook and then met.

She told the program that was like a sister interview.

“We got immediately,” Doris said. “It was an indescribable feeling.”

Recently, the families have recently met, photographed by the Orf TV crew.

Mrs. Derler told the first program to hear the news was “emotional disorders.”

“But my first idea Jessica would always be our child. When I saw Doris, I thought she was a sweetheart.”

Meanwhile, Evelyn Grunwald said: “For me, my family has become bigger and finally with certainty.”

Her husband said, “It was relief.”

“We regret heavily because this error has been made at that time,” the broadcaster quoted the director of operations at Lkh-Riklinikum in Graz, Gebhard Falzberger.

I apologize to both families on behalf of the hospital.

In 2016, Grünwalds consulted a lawyer who advised them to adopt Doris, to ensure her inheritance rights, and she was compensated by the hospital.

Jessica said it was good that there was now clarity – but she recognized mixed feelings.

She said, “It is huge emotionally, with beautiful aspects, but also a lot of pain.”
