Thomas Tuchel, England coach, admitted that it was “beautiful” to see his players celebrating qualification for next summer’s World Cup.

The Three Lions cruised to a 5-0 win in Latvia, maintaining their excellent qualifying record and leaving little effort on a rainy evening in Eastern Europe.

Anthony Gordon opened the scoring for the visitors, before Harry Kane scored a brace, an own goal, and an Eberechi Eze goal to seal the deal.

Tuchel shared a moment with his team throughout, before congratulating his players on the pitch.

“It’s never easy, even if it looks easy,” he said after the match. “We put in a lot of work. They played with a lot of short passes, and we expected more long balls, but the reaction was good.”

“Another great performance for the team. It’s a special moment – you rarely qualify for the World Cup.

“The mood is very good and it’s all smiles and music. It’s a moment to enjoy.

“It means a lot and it’s different. You can’t create it artificially. It’s nice to see what it means to the players. The way we won, in the first place, gives us a lot of satisfaction.

“Six wins and six clean sheets. We are there. It is a special evening. You can feel it in the coaching staff and the players.”

Ken is keen to build something special

It was another successful night for Kane, who added two more goals to his impressive tally this season.

He will lead his country in another major tournament next summer, and he is keen to continue building a special camp as England prepares for the tournament.

Having narrowly missed the mark in recent years, Bayern Munich’s talisman is keen to right some wrongs next summer.

He said: “It was a great game from us. I’ve talked before about building momentum. Another great camp – we can be proud of qualifying with at least two games to go – it’s not as easy as it sounds. Another tournament to look forward to.”

“After the Serbia game, I talked to the group about building the momentum we feel together. It’s important to keep this ball rolling. There are still two big games in the November camp.

“Every moment counts – it’s about building something special. We’ve been doing that over the last few camps.

“I think America next summer will be special, and we will feel it. Never take these moments for granted.

“Sometimes it feels like you’re taking a big risk. Sometimes, if you do it early and get the ball back early, you’re the one who has the ball a lot.”

“We want to be an aggressive team, and we’re going to face tougher tests and better teams, so it’s all great training for when that comes.”
