It was not immediately clear whether the increase in the other customs tariffs on the minerals was in the near future.
Trump said last week that he would impose a 100 % tariff on semiconductor imports, but companies that have committed to building manufacturing in the United States will be exempt.
His remarks were made along with the announcement that Apple will invest $ 100 billion in the local market.
