Trump threatens Russia with definitions while revealing the new Ukrainian weapons plan

US President Donald Trump announced that the United States will send “late weapons” to Ukraine across NATO, with Russia also threatening severe tariffs if a deal to end the war is not reached within 50 days.

“We want to make sure that Ukraine can do what you want to do,” Trump said after a meeting with NATO President Mark Retti in Washington.

Root confirmed that the United States decided to “provide Ukraine on a large scale with what is necessary through NATO” and that the Europeans will get the bill.

Trump said that European countries will send Kiev its national air defense systems – which Ukraine relies on to repel Russian deadly air strikes – then alternatives will be issued by the United States.

Rutte nor Trump explained the weapons that will be sent to Kyiv, but Rutte said that the deal included “missiles and ammunition.”

However, the President said, “One of the best weapons”, which is worth billions of dollars, “will be quickly distributed on the battlefield” in order to support Ukraine.

“If you are Vladimir Putin today … I will review whether I should not reach negotiations on Ukraine more seriously,” said Rutti.

At the front of the definitions, Trump said that the United States will impose a 100 % secondary tariff that targets trading partners in Russia if a peace agreement with Ukraine is not reached within 50 days.

This will witness any country trading with Russia facing the tax if they want to sell its products to the United States.

For example, if India continues to buy oil from Russia, then American companies that buy Indian goods will have to pay a 100 % import tax, or a tariff, when products reach American beaches.

This would make the goods so expensive that American companies may likely choose to buy them cheaper than elsewhere, which leads to the lost revenue for India.

The intention is also to extend the Russian economy. In theory, if Moscow is unable to generate money by selling oil to other countries, it will also have less money to finance its war in Ukraine.

Given that oil and gas represent nearly a third of Moscow’s state revenues and more than 60 % of its exports, the 100 % customs tariffs can make something of Russia’s financial affairs.

However, the Moscow Stock Exchange index rose sharply in the wake of the advertisement, probably as investors expected Trump – which led to a “great statement” last week on Russia – to pledge to more cruel measures.

Although the details about both customs tariffs and NATO weapons were minimal, Monday was the first time that Trump has pledged to make new military equipment to Ukraine since its return to the White House.

The briefing was also noticeable to the tone hit by the American President, whose speech on Vladimir Putin became increasingly harsh.

Not for the first time, Trump implicitly guaranteed Kiev some responsibility for Russia’s decision to launch its wide range of Ukraine in February 2022.

But it seemed mostly disappointed by the lack of progress in ending the conflict that seemed to be easily to be believed.

When asked about his relationship with Putin, Trump said that the two talk “a lot about the completion of this thing”, but he expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that “very nice phone calls” with the Russian president often followed the devastating air strikes on Ukraine – which were growing in intensity and repetition.

“After that, three or four times happens, saying: The hadith does not mean anything,” Trump said.

“I don’t want to call him a killer but he is a strong man. It has been proven over the years. He deceived many people – Clinton, Bush, Obama, Biden,” he added. “He didn’t deceive me. At a certain point, the conversation does not speak, this work should be.”

Two rounds of ceasefire talks took place between Russia and Ukraine earlier this year, but no date for other meetings – something that Moscow threw in Kiev.

Ukraine President Zelinski is currently hosting American envoy Keith Keel in Kiev, and earlier on Monday, he praised a “fruitful meeting” – saying that he is “grateful” for Trump for his support.

The Kremlin did not immediately comment on the advertisement – but it seemed that the comments flowing from Moscow indicate a degree of relief.

Promeline Bondit and former Putin assistant Sergey Markov described the announcement of the customs tariff “a trick” indicated that Trump “abandoned the attempt to achieve peace in Ukraine.”

“If this was all of this, Trump had to say about Ukraine today, so this has so far been a lot of confusion about nothing.”

Within 50 days, a lot can change “in the battlefield and in the mood of power in the United States and NATO”, Koschov wrote.
