Donald Trump has threatened Apple with a 25 percent tariff on iPhone unless the company turns its best -selling product to the United States, which is escalating with CEO Tim Cook.

Cook said this month that Indian factories will provide the “majority” of iPhone devices sold in the United States in the coming months, as Apple tries to avoid definitions on Chinese goods that Trump imposes as part of his trade war.

“I have long reported Tim Cook from Apple that I expect its iPhone to be manufactured in the United States of America to be manufactured and built in the United States, not India, or anywhere else,” the American president wrote in a social publication in fact on Friday.

“If not, then a tariff should be paid at least 25 % by Apple to the United States.”

The Financial Times previously reported that Apple planned the source from India, all of the iPhone devices, which exceed 60 million pictures that are sold annually in the United States by the end of next year. Foxconn, the main Apple supplier, has invested $ 1.5 billion to expand iPhone production in India with a unit of display facility near Chennai, FT said earlier Friday.

Apple shares decreased by 3 percent in the pre -market trade.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
