President Donald Trump said he is planning to sign an executive order to reduce the prices of prescribed drugs by assigning the United States at the same price of medicines in which the country is paying the lowest price in the world.
He said in a post on social media that he would sign the matter at nine in the morning on Monday, Washington time. He expected that the prices of medicines may decrease by 30 % to 80 %.
Trump’s social publication did not explain how the system works. It also did not specify the potential limits of politics, as if it would only apply to government programs such as Medicare or Medicaid, or if the White House saw a way to apply this on a wider scale.
