Treasury Ministry. BESSENT: You will likely meet with China again

Treasury Secretary Scott Beesen said on Monday that he expected to meet with Chinese officials again in the coming weeks to continue commercial negotiations.

Pesint said the minute details of the meeting, such as the site, were not appointed, but there is now a “mechanism” for more conversations.

The comments come after the United States and China announced 90 days stopped In most of the definitions imposed by the two countries on each other, following a meeting between Pisent, American Commercial Representative Jameson Jarir and Chinese officials in Switzerland during the weekend.

“What we have with the Chinese is a mechanism to avoid the pressure of the upward tariff,” Pesin said on Monday.

Under the temporary suspension for 90 days, both countries reduced the average primary line tariff by 115 percent to 10 %. The tariff associated with fentanel by 20 % of the United States is still valid, so most Chinese goods face 30 % in total, a decrease from 145 % previously.

Pesin said there is a “very long and in -depth sidebar” regarding fentanel between officials at the meeting.

“I think we have seen here in Geneva that the Chinese are now serious in helping the United States stop the flow of medicines provided,” said Pesin.
