India and the United States are still closed on a dead end due to the main agricultural demands, with sources in the Indian government that today tells us that the stalemate is “still not specified.”

According to senior officials, India made it clear that it will not budge on dairy, a sector that uses more than 80 million people, and many of them are small holders. A senior government source said: “There is no doubt that the dairy waived. This is a red line.”

Special secretary Rajesh Aguar, who leads the Indian delegation in Washington, paid his stay on another day in an attempt to break the dilemma. The talks are expected to continue until Wednesday, when Foreign Minister S. was also scheduled to meet. Jaishhankar, in his American view, Marco Rubio, on the sidelines of a diplomatic meeting.

Meanwhile, India seeks to obtain duty concessions for a group of dense labor sectors, including textiles, clothes, gemstones, jewelry, leather goods, plastic materials, chemicals, shrimp, oil seeds, grapes, and banana. “These concessions do not harm any local interest in the United States and are unlikely to face resistance,” a source said.

The temporary trade agreement is placed as a first step towards a broader bilateral trade deal. It also aims to avoid a sharp tariff that reaches 26 % on Indian exports – a deadline waving on the horizon, as the United States leads to progress before July 9.

Currently, India’s position is still firm – there is no compromise on agriculture, especially at the expense of its rural economy.
