Formula 1 manager should be “open” to a late proposed organization to the new 2026 power units, after she previously described it as a “joke.”
The F1 committee meeting was held last month to discuss the possibility of reducing the amount of electrical power output from the power units. The changes in this lists late before the comprehensive repair of the rules is unusual in F1.
A The proposal is expected to be voted, but it did not happen. Four of the five engines manufacturers, Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull-Ford PowerTrains, Audi and Honda, needed to vote in favor of the proposal that will change regulations.
Before the meeting, Wolf criticized the proposal and said that “it was almost funny to read some of the comments I saw on Twitter on American policy.” However, he changed his position
“It is clear that the closer to new regulations, the more people who behave – all – are in the interest of the team, this is their duty,” Wolf said.
“Where do we come from, we don’t know how it will come out next year. Will we see the energy harvest disasters in Baku or Monza? I don’t know. We don’t hope.
“What we referred to is that, instead of behaving now based on the assumptions – as if we were great in previous years, then we have passed or less – you do not need to throw devices away and reach something new – it’s inside the program and display the frequency range of what you can do.
“We will see the final product next year in the test. As a power unit manufacturer, we want this to be a great offer. We want to win, but we also realize that in this sport, there should be a variation and the inability to predict.”
It is believed that Mercedes is widely in the foreground when it comes to 2026, which is the biggest change in the base in F1 history with almost every technical list change.
The latest engine change in 2014 witnessed Mercedes’s control of three seasons with Luis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, before Ferrari, then Red Ball.
They won the title of eight consecutive seasons in a row between 2014 and 2021, in addition to seven consecutive drivers.
“We enjoyed the years 2014 onwards, but for a long period of time, this is definitely not the best for sports,” Wolf continued.
))
“FIA suggested this engine. No one liked. The electric back was 50 percent a day was where the cars were on the roads, and it was a reason to attract manufacturers such as Audi and Porsche. So, we did so.
“It is difficult to change goal goals, especially for new times. Honda is committed, and Audi committed, including us, it is not keen to change these goals at this stage. But we need to be open if necessary.”
Horner: The proposal is not a new concern
Red Bull will enter a new era in a technical partnership with Ford while building their Red Bull Powertrains.
Christian Horner has already described the proposal as “somewhat reasonable” and believes that any change in the electrical output will be pure to help in the race scene.
“The biggest concern is the new. It has been known for two years by all Booms (the manufactures of the energy unit) is the amount of harvest there,” he said.
It is imperative that the structure designers outperform the regulations, and it will be as a result of the amount of lifting that will be in the Grand Prix.
“You also have to remember that under the RGS 2026, the car is effective in DRS mode. Once you enter the straight, the wing opens. So, there will be no passage mechanism.
“FIA raised this topic that was seen shortly before Pums. If it is real in the interest of sport and race, and not all this lifting and coasts, I think it is something that remembers it. It does not change the specifications or the engine out.
Wolf, Horner does not agree to the weight of the car for 2026
Another issue related to 2026 is the concerns that it will be difficult to approach the lower car weight of 768 kg, which is less than 32 kg of current cars.
FIA lower weight in an attempt to make a car next year smarter to help the race, which is expected to be achieved with a smaller wheelbase and its width.
However, Red Paul Boss Horner believes that new and heavier power units will balance cars and smaller tires.
“A number of air were extracted for the weight of the car. We have much heavier engines and the weight of the car that has become less,” he said.
“So it will be a tremendous challenge for each team to achieve. The weight saving costs a huge amount of money. There was a discussion last week about serving solid skiing – this may require add 5 kilograms to the minimum weight.
“But this is what it is. It is the same for everyone. There will be options for a difference to strike, because weight is free time.”
Every 10 kilograms is saved in F1, with a value of about three tenths for each bosom, which is a large margin, and therefore the big difference in weight between cars will be a key to arranging the attackers.
Wolf supports the minimum current weight of FIA for 2026.
“As Christian said, you can make options as a team. How much time is the time for weight to weight and the burden? Where do you want to save? Clear.
“Other performance parts may weaken if you want to reduce your weight, or vice versa. It is difficult. The reason we do this is to make cars more intelligent. Is this important? I think it was. We have to start somewhere. This initial step is difficult, but it is the same for everyone.”
