Tony Bennett’s children’s legal battle brings up his personal struggles

Danny claimed that Tony credited him with turning his life around “after he hit rock bottom in the late 1970s, including a near-fatal cocaine overdose and a financial disaster that caused the IRS to seize his Los Angeles home.”

The RPM Productions founder served as his father’s manager from the 1970s until his retirement in 2021, a position he said Tony credited when he won a Grammy for his comeback in 1995. His attorney echoed similar sentiments in documents he obtained In touchclaim:

As for Antonia and Joanna’s request for an accounting of the estate, Danny said they had no legal rights to view the finances before and after their father’s death. His lawyer reversed his position, saying:

“It simply does not make sense to go through the expense and effort of accounting for a property that has been open for almost a year.”

Antonia and Joanna did not oppose Danny’s role in revamping their late father’s image but criticized him for engaging in “self-dealing” before and after Tony’s death. They claimed he made “conflicting financial statements” about the estate.
