“Tinder Swindler” Con Simon Leviev was arrested in Georgia

Local officials said that a convicted artist was the subject of a famous documentary for 2022, Tinder Swindler, who was arrested in Georgia.

The Ministry of Interior in Georgia said on Monday that Israeli Simon Leviv was detained at the request of Interpol after arriving at Batome airport in the southwest of the country.

After his arrest in Georgia, they said: “I spoke to him this morning after his arrest, but we have not yet understood the reason.”

Leviev told BBC Newsbeat that he strongly denied the accusations against him in the documentary.

Speaking to the BBC in 2023, Kate Conveneline, a former friend of Leviev, accused him of emotional and physical abuse while they were together.

During an argument, Mrs. Conelin said he pushed her and cut her foot on a step with a rough edge.

“I was bleeding. I felt death. I wanted to kill myself,” she said.
