Thousands turn to celebrate Dalai Lama’s birthday

Thousands of Tibetan Buddhists flowed to the city of Himalayas in India on Sunday to celebrate the Dalai Lama’s birthday.

This announcement has sparked fears between the Tibetan in exile that China will try to nominate Khalifa to tighten control of Tibet, the region it occupied in 1950 and has ruled since then.

Dalai Lama has long directed the Tibetan diaspora in their struggle for autonomy and resistance to Chinese hegemony.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended birthday desires on Sunday, describing him as a “permanent symbol of love, mercy, patience and moral discipline.”

Former US President Barack Obama also sent his greetings, describing him as “the 90 -year -old who I know” and thanks for his friendship.
