Thousands protested throughout Indonesia after anger at the luxurious privileges of the legislators, which led to six deaths and military deployment in Jakarta. While the protests near Parliament were peaceful after President Prabu Subanto called for the end of the sunset, clashes erupted elsewhere, including in Guronalo and Bandong, where the police used tear gas and water cannons. The demonstrations also took place in Palembang, Banjarmasin, Yogyakarta and Makassar.
