Thomas Tuchel criticizes England fans after the victory over Wales

England coach Thomas Tuchel was clearly not entirely happy with last night’s 3-0 win over Wales despite the emphatic nature of the victory.

The Three Lions took a 3-0 lead inside the first 20 minutes of the game, with Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins and Bukayo Saka finding the back of the net at Wembley.

However, Tuchel felt that the atmosphere of the home team’s fans did not match the level of his players’ performance on the field.

“That’s your first question, then? Okay. Good. Good moment to explain myself,” he said.

“First of all, I said the support in Serbia was absolutely fantastic, when we last played in Serbia, I said that, I meant it.

“I love English football and I love the English football fans and the support they provide. But I think the atmosphere today did not match the performance on the pitch.”

A difficult start for Thomas Tuchel as England coach continues

Although Tuchel has achieved good results since becoming England manager, it is probably fair to say that he has not completely captured the fanbase yet.

There is no doubt that the former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss is a great coach, but we are yet to see England play in a way that looks much improved from the Gareth Southgate era.

It also certainly won’t help Tuchel if he criticizes fans in this way, so it will be interesting to see if the atmosphere improves in the upcoming matches, or if his comments make things worse.
