Thomas Partey is scheduled to join Villarreal amid rape fees

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Parti is close to completing the move to Villarreal, where the 32 -year -old is expected to sign a two -year contract in Spain until 2027.

Partey, who left Arsenal at the end of June when his contract ended, a medical player has already undergone the Spanish League.

It is understood that the possibility of playing football in the Champions League was a major factor in his decision to join Villarreal.

Ghana International was in discussions on the extension of his stay at the Emirates Stadium, but the talks collapsed on the terms of the contract.

Partey originally joined Arsenal from ATLETICO MADRID in 2020 for about 45.4 million pounds.

Over the course of five seasons in northern London, he made 167 games and scored nine goals, including both the midfield and sometimes in the right back.

Last season alone, he played 52 games in all competitions.

This step comes against the backdrop of a continuous legal issue.

On July 4, Partey was accused of five charges of rape and sexual assault.

He denied all the charges. The case stems from an investigation that started in February 2022, during which Arsenal continued to represent.

It is scheduled to appear before the Westminster Magistrate on Tuesday, August 5.

If the deal is completed, Villarreal will add a highly experienced midfielder to their team while preparing for the new campaign.
