It was only a matter of time before robotic vacuums reached a new stage of development. Over the years, they have become faster, smarter, and can even climb. So, it should come as no surprise to anyone here at CES 2025 that we’ll see one that can sprout a claw arm to help with cleaning tasks.

The Roborock Saros Z70 is a robot vacuum cleaner with a foldable arm inside its body. The OmniGrip mechanical arm can extend and twist to pick up small objects or pieces of trash and drop them in a designated area.

The Saros Z70 will run its regular cleaning routine and note the things it can pick up. Once the initial cleaning is done, it will spin again to pick up the item and carry it away. If you’re impatient, you can control the arm yourself via the app. The camera inside the arm makes it easy to pick things up and adds a fun carnival game atmosphere.

The arm itself can only pick up items weighing up to 300 grams. In a private demo, we watched the Saros Z70 attempt to pick up some inflated socks, with mixed results. Roborock said the robot was running outdated software during the presentation; The claw arm struggled to pick up the loose sock on the first few attempts, and even refused to exit its compartment during one test run, requiring a number of constant resets.

As you can see from the video, the AI robot vacuum takes a long time to pick up and move the sock. However, if you turn it on overnight or while you’re away, it probably won’t be that important. In addition to socks, the Saros Z70 should be able to handle small toys, towels, and slippers and return them to their rightful place.

Roborock states that the Saros Z70 detects up to 108 items using machine learning. The app lets you select and name up to 50 custom objects in your home. All information is stored on the device, never in the cloud.

Beyond the ability to pick up trash, the Saros Z70 offers everything you’d expect from a high-end robot vacuum. It wipes and cleans corners and has a fast charging dock. It will also work with smart home ecosystems like Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa.

The Roborock Saros Z70 will be launched later this year. Prices have not been announced yet.
