Over time, this produces a model called Skild Brain, with a more general ability to adapt to different material forms – including those that have not been unprecedented before. The researchers created a smaller version of the model, called Locoformer, for an academic paper that defines its approach.

This model is also designed to adapt quickly to a new position, such as a missing leg or a treacherous new terrain, with discovery of how you have learned to its new scale. Pathak compares the approach with the way in which large language models can face difficult problems by dividing them and feeding its deliberations again in its context window-a approach known as learning within the context.

In one of the experiments, the Skild team trained their algorithm to control a large number of walking robots in various forms. When the algorithm was then operated on real and thirty legs of the legs- not included in the training data- it was able to control its movements and make it wander.

Skild tests the same approach to processing robot.
