The Ebola outbreak in Congo is showing signs of containment, as no new confirmed or probable cases have emerged since the World Health Organization’s last update on October 1, the World Health Organization said on Wednesday.
The organization added that as of Sunday, a total of 64 cases, including 11 probable cases and 43 deaths, had been reported in Congo’s Kasai province. The total deaths included 11 probable deaths.
The agency said that by Sunday, ten days had passed “without recording any new cases, indicating that transmission may be controlled in the affected areas.”
