The Venezuelan opposition calls for boycotting the elections

In Venezuela, regional parliamentary elections are held today. The country is still one of the poorest in Latin America, and the regime of President Nicholas Maduro is accused of widespread violations of human rights – including torture, disappearance and the imprisonment of political opponents. Several opposition leaders are hiding, after the presidential elections that the international community has widely condemned as fraudulent.
