The US Department of Commerce has launched investigations into anti -jamming duties in the imports of solar cells from India, Indonesia and Laos, a step that can reshape the $ 1.5 billion supply chain that feeds clean energy aspirations in America.

Investigations are targeted by crystalline silicone photovoltaic cells – whether they are assembled in units or not – according to American tariff symbols 8541.42.0010 and 8541.43.0010.

This procedure follows a contact with the coalition for the manufacture and trade of American solar energy, a major group in the local solar energy industry.

The American International Trade Committee (ITC) will now determine whether these imports have harm or threaten to harm American manufacturers. Its initial judgment is expected by September 2, 2025.

If ITC confirmed the injury, the Ministry of Commerce will move forward by achieving two tracks, with preliminary results for primary compensatory fees by October 13 and the anti -discharged results by December 26.

In 2024, India exported an estimated $ 790 million of these solar products to the United States, Indonesia 420 million dollars, and $ 340 million – Laos – which confirms the potential impact of any future tariff.
