The United Nations to vote on the demand for immediate ceasefire despite the United States, opposition to Israel

On Thursday, the United Nations General Assembly will vote on a draft resolution that requires immediate, unconditional and permanent shooting in the war in Gaza after the United States objected to a similar effort in the Security Council last week.

Diplomats say that the 193 -member General Assembly is likely to adopt overwhelming support, although the pressure countries on Israel this week are against participating in what it described as “skillful with political motives and counter -results.”

The decisions of the General Assembly are not binding, but they carry a weight as a reflection of global opinion in the war. The previous demands were ignored by the body to end the war between Israel and the Palestinian militants Hamas. Unlike the United Nations Security Council, there is no country with a veto in the General Assembly.

A vote on Thursday also comes before the United Nations Conference next week, aiming to stimulate an international batch to dissolve a state between Israel and the Palestinians. The United States urged countries not to attend.
