UK Foreign Minister David Lami and Prime Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo met on Wednesday

The UK has agreed to an agreement with the European Union to put Gibraltar after Britain’s exit from the European Union.

The talks on the rules governing the border between Spain and British territory abroad have been ongoing since the United Kingdom left the European Union in 2020.

The UK said the agreement will avoid the need for checks on people and goods that cross the borders of Gibraltar Spin.

For travelers who arrive at Gibraltar Airport, passport checks will be conducted by Gibraltar and Spanish officials.

Spanish border officials will be able to refuse to enter because it will be possible for British expatriates to continue their travel to Spain and the European Union’s free travel zone without further examination.

This is similar to the system in force for the eurostar passengers at the St. Pancras Station in London, where travelers pass through both control of British and French passports before going up to international trains.

UK Foreign Minister David Lami said the deal protects British sovereignty and support the economy of Gibraltar.

He said that “the penetration” has achieved a practical solution, adding: “This government inherited a position on the last government that put the economy of Gibraltar and the way of life under threat.”

The Prime Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo welcomed the agreement, saying: “I worked in a glove with the UK government throughout this negotiation to connect the deal that Gibraltar wants and its needs – one that would protect future generations from the British Gibraltar and do not in any way affect our British sovereignty.”

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and the UK Prime Minister Sir Kerr Starmer agreed to a phone call on Wednesday evening that the deal “opens great opportunities to strengthen relations between the United Kingdom.”

Downting Street said that Sir Kiir also contacted Picardo to congratulate him on the deal and thanked him for “the years of hard work, his commitment and his leadership to reach an agreement.”

Gibraltar is the head of 2.6 square miles to southern Spain.

The United Kingdom has been suffering from sovereignty over Gibraltar since 1713, although this is disputed by Spain, who claims that the region belongs to them.

The state of the region and the borders of its borders with Spain was a main attached point and remained unlawful since Britain’s exit from the European Union.

About 15,000 people cross the borders of Gibraltar Spin every day for work and entertainment.

Currently, the residents of Gibraltar can cross the accommodation cards without having to seal their passports. Spanish citizens can cross using a government identity card.

But there were concerns that would end with the entry Entry/exit system in the European Union later this yearIt causes huge delays on the border.

The United Kingdom said that all parties agreed on a condition that shows that the final treaty does not affect the sovereignty of the British region.

She said that there will also be a full operational independence for the UK army facilities in Gibraltar, where the airport is run by the British Royal Air Force.

Public opinion in Gibraltar, which has a population of about 32,000, supports the preservation of British sovereignty. The last referendum, which was held in 2002, witnessed about 99 % of the voters, refusing a proposal to share sovereignty with Spain.

This penetration came after he met Lami Pierdo and his treasury in Gibraltar earlier, before the husband went to Brussels for discussions with Spanish and Spanish ministers.

Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarris and European Union Trade, Marus Sevkovic, praised the deal as a “historical”, where Civkovic said, “strengthening a new chapter” in the relationship between the European Union.

The UK government said that all parties have committed to ending the text of the UK and the European Union on Gibraltar as soon as possible.

However, Reform UK criticized the deal, with Deputy Leader Richard Tess, saying: “Once again, this work government has shown completely to our foreign lands. This is another surrender.”

The Foreign Minister of the province in the shadow said that her party will study the full legal text of the treaty to see if it had achieved their “red lines.”

“The Conservative Party has been in the government, and now in the opposition is always clear that any deal should guarantee that the sovereignty and rights of Gibraltar are fully protected and must bear the support of the government and the people of Gibraltar, as well as protect constitutional arrangements. We are also opposing any efforts by Spain to disrupt the flow of goods on the border.”

“Gibraltar is British, and given the Labor Party’s record to surrender our lands and pay the price of this privilege, we will review all the details of any carefully reached.”

A spokesman for liberal democratic affairs, such as Bome Miller, said that the agreement made the United Kingdom “one step from an appropriate trade agreement with the European Union”, but added that “it is necessary to give Parliament the opportunity to scrutinize the details.”

A thin red sign promoting the basic bulletin of politics with a text that says:
