A 30 -year -old woman has become the third person to die of methanol poisoning in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, where the authorities are investigating the source of polluted drinks that are believed to be sick.

Brona Araijo de Souza died after consuming a vodka drink in a bar more than a week ago, according to officials in the city of Sao Bernardo. This comes after health officials announced the death of two men.

There have been a total of 225 confirmation of methanol poisoning in Brazil so far, according to the latest update of the Ministry of Health. Most of these were in Sao Paulo.

At least 11 companies and more than 10,000 bottles of alcohol seized by the authorities have been closed.

It is unclear whether pollution is intended or accidental, and people are asked to avoid consuming drinks without nails, safety seals or tax stamps.

Methanol is a type of alcohol usually found in cleaning, fuel and freezing products. It is very toxic, even in small quantities.

The symptoms of methaneols are similar to waste, which means that it may be difficult for a person to know if it has been affected.

Mrs. Suza was transferred to the hospital in critical condition and the tests showed that she had methanol in her system, as did her boyfriend, according to what she said, was an awareness that he published on the Internet. It was later confirmed that it is dead in the brain.

The two men who died in the Brazilian media were named Marcus Angelo Jorge Junior and Ricardo Lopez Mira. Both are from the city of Sao Paulo.

Mira, 54, died on September 16, after she fell ill a few days ago, while Júni, 46, died on October 2 after drinking vodka in a bar.

Sao Paulo and national health officials say they are investigating the death of suspected methanol poisoning.

“The clients were worried, and we advise them that it is better not to drink cocktails,” said a pubis near Paulista Street, one of the most crowded areas in Sao Paulo, told Associated Press.

Among those who were transferred to the hospital with suspected methanol poisoning, the Brazilian rapper is Hongzriya, who posted a picture of himself in the hospital on social media with a comment saying, “If you feel thirsty, look for a safe place to drink.”

The Minister of Health in Brazil, Alexander Badil, described the situation as “unnatural and unlike anything else in our history regarding methanol poisoning in the country.”

This is not the first time that Brazil has to deal with methanol poisoning. At least 51 people died in the northeastern region of Bahia in 1999.

Recently, at least 54 people died in 2022 during the outbreak of the adjacent outbreak of Peru.

Thousands of people suffer from methanol poisoning every year, according to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) – with the majority of brutality that occurs in Asia.

The lack of regulations and awareness by the public, including tourists, is among the main reasons that are presented for the reason for these outbreaks.
