The teenager who shot the Colombian Senteor Miguel Urby Turay was sentenced to 7 years in prison

A 15 -year -old boy was sentenced to seven years in prison in detention of events to shoot the Colombian presidential Miguel Orepe at a gathering in Bogota in June.

The conservative Senator, who was 39 years old, underwent multiple surgical operations after he had three bullets but died on August 11.

The teenager was accused of attempting to kill and possess illegal firearms.

After years of increasing peace, the Colombian shooting, who still remember political violence in the 1980s and 1990s, was shocked when many presidential candidates and influential Colombian figures were assassinated.

Urby was filmed in his head in a campaign march on June 7, with a video that was not widely identified online.

Local media reports indicate that after his arrest, he shouted: “I did this for money for my family.”

Senator was a famous member of the right -wing Democratic Center, and was seeking to nominate his party for the 2026 presidential elections.

His father, Miguel Orepe Lunduano, announced his presidential campaign earlier this week, while he said it was an effort to keep his son’s legacy alive.

Orepe Lunduano was a member of the Bogota City Council in the late eighties and a member of the Conservative Party in Colombia in the early 1990s.

During that time period, many presidential candidates and influential Colombian personalities were assassinated. Including the mother of Uriani, journalist Diana Turai.

It was kidnapped by Los Sextradables in 1990 – a coalition created by leading drug princes. She was detained for five months before she collided with bullets during a failed rescue attempt.

Urby is often cited as an inspiration for him to run for the political position “to work for our country.”
