On Saturday, Ukrainian President Folodimir Zelinski called for a stronger sanctions on Moscow after a Russian drone killed nine passengers in northeastern Ukraine, just hours after the two countries held the first peace talks in three years of war.
The meeting of Russian and Ukrainian officials in Türkiye on Friday to mediate the temporary ceasefire. This was the first direct dialogue between the two sides since the first months of the war launched by Russia in February 2022.
Commenting on the drone strike in the Sumi area, Zellinski said on X: “All the deceased were civilians. The Russians could not have failed to understand the type of car they were targeting. This was the killing of a aware civilian.”
The Ukrainian police have published pictures of a dark blue passenger truck that was almost destroyed, with the ceiling tearing and exploding windows.
“Pressing Russia must be exercised to stop the killings,” Zelinski said.
He said that Russia had sent to a “weak and unprepared” delegation without meaningful authorization while there was a need for real steps to end the war.
“We expect strong sanctions against Russia from the United States, from Europe, and from all our partners. Diplomacy must start at work,” Zelinski said.
“Nothing could happen” until he met directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The British Foreign Minister refers to the Russian “jamming”
Speaking to Reuters in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, on Saturday, British Foreign Secretary David Lami Moscow was accused of fatigue after Istanbul’s talks, which ended in less than two hours.

Peskov did not explain this note. Putin has already challenged the legitimacy of Zelinski as a president because his elected position ended last year.
