Vice President Sarah Doterti faces an isolation trial in the Senate

With the launch of the noise and color for an electoral campaign for two months, the game of thrones between the two strongest families in the Philippines is resumed.

President Ferdinand “Boungong” Marcus Junior, and his vice -president, Sarah Duttri, are involved in a bitter conflict, and a battle for power.

As allies, they won the victory of the ground collapse in the last presidential elections in 2022.

But with the collapse of their relationship – accused her of threatening to assassinate him, she accuses him of incompetence and says that she dreamed of his headscarf – these elections in the middle of the period have become a critical measure of the strength of these political strains.

and Results It was not great news for Marcus. The current presidents in the Philippines usually get most of their choices for the Senate elected in the mid -term elections. The strength of the presidential care is a great advantage, at least in the past.

But not this time.

Only six Senate members of the twelve winners of the Marcus Alliance, among them, Cameel Villar, are only half in his camp, as she also accepted the support of Sarah Doterti.

Four of the Senate members in the Dotti camp, including the sister of President Amy Marcus. Two were in the first three places to vote, before any Marcus candidate.

For the head of sitting, this is a bad result.

Senate members are elected in a simple vote in the country, which is a good indication of national opinion. The result can weaken Marcos Administration Authority in the last three years of his term, and question the plan of Sarah Doterti’s deficit by isolating it.

Marcos-Duterte has deteriorated since the beginning of its administration three years ago. But this year only this year is completely torn.

The decision of the president’s allies in Congress to start isolating the vice president was the first unlevantary breach.

Then, in March, President Marcus, the father of Sarah, sent former President Rodrigo Deuttri to The International Criminal Court to confront the charges of crimes against humanity On his brutal war on drugs. The police have now provided criminal charges against it.

The gloves were parked. The dismissal will prevent Sarah Duttiti from his public position, and to end her ambition to replace President Marcus in the upcoming elections.

Currently, it is individual monitoring, and some doubt that, if it succeeds, it will use the presidency to search for revenge against Marcus.

But the dismissal requires two -thirds of the 24 -seats Senate to vote in its favor, which is why these elections in the middle of the term are a great task for both camps.

Power, survival and revenge: What is at stake in the Philippines elections?

Politics in the Philippines is a family company. Once the family achieves political power, it adheres to it and passes it around different generations.

While there are about 200 influential families, duttertes and marcoses sit at the top of the pyramid.

Marx was in politics 80 years ago. The father of the current president ruled from 1965 to 1986, imposing martial law, and looting billions of dollars from the national portfolio.

Pongong Marcos’s mother, Emilda, who is 95, is her vote in these elections from a wheelchair, she is A more famous personalityAnd not only for her Shoe.

His sister Amy was re -elected to the Senate, thanks to her decision to defect in the Dotter camp.

His eldest son Sandro is a member of Congress, and his cousin Martin Romandez is the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the potential presidential candidate in 2028 – Perhaps the reason for Bondong Marcus was very keen to drive by isolating Sarah Doterti.

In the province of Ilukos Norte, his wife’s cousin was elected as a ruler, his nephew, deputy ruler, and two other cousins who were elected as consultants of the city. There, Marx is always winning.

The same applies to Dustertes in their stronghold in Davao at the other end of the country.

Even from his prison in prison in The Hague, former President Duterte nominated for the mayor of Davao, and won easily, although all voters obtained it were pieces of natural -sized paper.

His absence will not matter, because the former mayor was his son Sebastian, who is now taking over the function of the deputy. Dustertes municipal heads of Davao for 34 out of 37 years.

The problem facing both camps is that the Senate members also come from large political families, or famous in itself – many candidates come from the background of the media or Shubes.

They have their own interests and aspirations. Even if it is officially allied with a camp or another, there is no guarantee that they will remain sincere, especially on the issue of dismissal.

“The members of the Philippines are very sensitive to the national public opinion, because they imagine themselves as a vice -president or presidents to wait,” says Cleef Argueis, a political scientist who runs WR Numero, who monitors public opinion.

“Therefore, they always try to read the public mind, and the side with public opinion because of their future political ambitions.”

Bongbong Marcos comes from one of the best political families in the Philippines

In recent months, the general feelings were not alongside the president.

Bongbong Marcos was absolutely a good public speaker, and his appearance in the campaign did little to raise his full popularity.

His administration of the economy, which is fighting, gets low signs of opinion polls, and his decision is depicted with the detention of former President Deutrty and his sending to the International Criminal Court by the Doterti family as a national betrayal.

In a mass rally in Tondo, a low -income neighborhood in the Manila port area, Sarah Deuttri played an emotional charged video of the moment her father held at Manila International Airport and put a private plane to The Hague. I photographed this as an unforgivable treatment for a former president who is still famous.

“They not only failed my father, they stole it from us,” she said to the crowd.

Also on the stage, President Marcus Emmy’s older sister, who did not agree to hand over the ship and the ship jumped to the Dotter camp – although most observers view this as a satirical step to take advantage of the popular support for the route, so that it can raise its distinguished campaign to keep the Senate seat.

I worked. From low voting during most of the campaign, Imee Marcos enables “Magic Twelve”, as they call the winning Senate members.

It is difficult to predict what is happening now, but the Marcus camp definitely faces a difficult battle to get Sarah Doterti.

Of the 24 Senate members, only a bunch of disagreement is automatically for the president. The rest will be convinced to communicate with her, and it will not be easy.

These elections have shown that Dustertes still has very strong public support in some areas, some of which are in the Marcus Alliance for the elections, they are already registrating their saying that they oppose the isolation of the vice president. The same applies to 12 Senate members who were not away from the elections this year.

One of the bright points of the president can be the election of Senator Pam Akino and Francis Paniglinin, both from the liberal wing of politics.

A few opinion polls have predicted that their victories are expected, indicating a general desire for politicians outside the hostility of Marcus-Duterte.

The friend of the Marcus-Liberals clan was not the main opposition of the Marcus-Duterte team in the 2022 elections.

But they were strongly opposed to the powerful man’s style of former President Doterti, and they may be afraid that his incendiary daughter would become president in 2028. This may be sufficient to make them vote for dismissal.

The dismissal trial is expected to start in July. Dutertes is expected to continue to cut off the head of the president, which has been beaten in public places, and both camps will press fiercely behind the scenes to make the Senate members alongside them.

No president or vice president was successfully isolated in the Philippines. Also, any president and vice president fell badly.

It will be a troubled year.
