The time time

She resumed searches for Madeleine Macan in Portugal, 18 years after she disappeared from a residential complex in Braia da Luz in Garv.

It is expected that the Portuguese and German authorities will continue to focus the research on the abandoned buildings and wells.

Madeleine was three years old when she disappeared during her vacation with her parents on May 3, 2007, which sparked an investigation into the police in Europe, which became one of the highest cases of missing persons.

This research – which covers the municipality of Lagos, will continue near Braya da Luz – until Friday via the 21 square kilometer (8 miles) site between the place where Madeleine disappeared and where the suspect of the German investigators was residing at that time.

The Madeleine case was initially dealt with by the Portuguese authorities with the help of the capital police, but the German investigators took the initiative in 2020, when they identified the German Christian Patriotic Brookner as a major suspect.

The 48 -year -old is currently serving a penalty in Germany for the rape of a 72 -year -old American tourist in Portugal in 2005. He is scheduled to be released in September, but it can be returned to early 2026 if he does not pay a fine of it.

The search site is about 3.5 miles from the Ocean Club resort, where Madeleine and her family were staying.

On Wednesday morning, many vehicles carrying dozens of people who wear uniform and clear clothes arrived at the site, which focuses on the edge of the town of Atalaia. Many of them were covered.

The roads leading to the area – which are large and most of them are angry – since Monday, when the team has been cleansing the grass and vegetable cover.

A Portuguese extinguishing engine and four vehicles carrying German police were seen up At the scene on Tuesday. Firefighters also drained part of the research.

The focus was on the first day of searching, it appears to be an abandoned farm with many abandoned buildings, writings, empty bottles and garbage.

The area is in the middle of a tourist area.

A few hundred meters north of a golf club and the resort, while in the opposite direction there are some sharp slopes leading to the sea. Along the slopes, there is a long -distance walking path along the slopes known as Trilho DOS Pescadores, or Fisherman path.

The last search occurred two years ago and focused on a reservoir to the northeast of the place where the British child was staying. Brückner, who spent time in the area between 2000 and 2017, was found that it contains pictures and videos of itself near the tank.

The German authorities in Brookner suspect the killing and fear that if he is not accused of anything new, it will disappear after his release. British police continue to deal with the case as an investigation into the missing persons.

Brückner has repeatedly denied any involvement.

The German police have a European memorandum, which was approved by Portuguese prosecutors, which will allow them to perform searches on private lands. This week’s search is expected to extend across 21 different plots of land.

The officials were not discovered if they were conducting this last research in Portugal based on any new information, which causes them to appear as if they were taking a last look at the places where the evidence or body could have been hidden

The Portuguese authorities also appointed Brückner as an official suspect, or “Arguido”. They said they would hand over any evidence that was seized in the last research to the German authorities.

MET Police, who this week, said they were aware of the inspection conducted by the German police in Portugal, to investigate Madeleine’s disappearance.

The case, known as the Grang operation, has been going on since 2011 and cost about 13.3 million pounds so far.

The night that Madeleine disappeared, her parents were at dinner with friends in a restaurant a short distance from the ground floor apartment, and her two younger twin brothers were asleep.

Her mother, Kate, discovered that she was missing at about 22:00.

In 2022, a German documentary film found evidence that Brookner was sometimes working in Ocean Club as if he were a man, while German prosecutors linked his mobile phone data and cars selling him.

Madeleine’s parents celebrated the eighteenth anniversary of the disappearance last month, saying that “their determination to leave any stone without being unworthy.”
