The Prime Minister says that Israel allows food after pressure from the allies

The Israeli Prime Minister said that his decision to allow the “minimum” food in Gaza after 11 weeks after the siege follows pressure from allies in the US Senate.

Benjamin Netanyahu stressed in a video in response to the criticism of this step in Israel: “We must not reach a state of famine, whether from a practical or diplomatic point of view.”

He said that the food delivery operations will only continue until military companies and Israel have established centers to distribute aid under the United States -backed plan, which was rejected by the United Nations.

Netanyahu also announced that the Israeli forces “will control all areas” in Gaza as part of the expanded ground attack against Hamas, which the Israeli army began on Sunday.

Meanwhile, at least 20 Israeli air strikes were killed across the region on Monday, according to respondents and early hospitals.

The Israeli army said it hit more than 160 goals over the past day.

It also ordered the evacuation of the southern city of Khan Yunis and its eastern suburbs, and the residents warned that launching an “unprecedented attack” there.

Israel suspended all delivery operations from humanitarian aid and commercial supplies to Gaza on March 2 and resumed its military attack after two weeks, and ended the two -month ceasefire with Hamas.

She said that the steps were aiming to pressure the armed group to release the hostages who were still being held in Gaza.

According to the Israeli shelling, which was resumed and the ground operation, more than 3,000 people explained 400,000 others, and the United Nations says the siege caused a severe shortage of food, medicine and fuel.

Last week, the Hamas -running Ministry of Health stated that 57 children have passed away due to the effects of malnutrition over the past 11 weeks, and the evaluation of the integrated food security class classified (IPC) has warned that half a million people – one in five gas – faced success.

The United Nations said that Israel was binding under international law to ensure the food and medical supplies of the Gaza residents. But Israeli officials have repeatedly said that there was no shortage of aid because thousands of truck loads had entered Gaza during the ceasefire, and Hamas accused of stealing supplies.

However, after increasing pressure from its allies, the Israeli Prime Minister’s office announced on Sunday night that “it will allow the provision of a basic amount of food to the residents in order to ensure that there is no hunger crisis in the Gaza Strip.”

The main members of the Council of Ministers have strongly opposed this step. Among them was the National Security Minister, Itamar Bin Ghafir, who called it a “mistake” that would “nourish Hamas and give it oxygen while our hostages are in the tunnels.”

In a video posted on social media on Monday, Benjamin Netanyahu defended himself from criticism.

He said, “Since the beginning of the war, we said that in order to achieve victory – to defeat Hamas and liberate all our hostages, which are two intertwined tasks – there is one necessary case: we should not reach a situation of starvation, whether from a practical or diplomatic point of view.”

The Prime Minister said that he had banned the delivery of aid through the United Nations and other humanitarian organizations due to the looting by Hamas, and that he is now following a “different way” related to the distribution of American companies from the guaranteed centers by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).

However, he warned that the “red line” was now approaching and “our best friends in the world, the members of the Senate (we) who I know that the enthusiastic supporters of Israel” expressed their concern about the famine looming on the horizon.

The Israeli army radio has stated that nine trucks carry humanitarian assistance, including children’s food, will cross to Gaza on Monday, but there was no immediate confirmation from Kojat, the Israeli military body that controls the crossings.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCA) said it “has come close to the Israeli authorities to resume the delivery of limited aid, and we are in discussions with them now on how this happens in view of the conditions on the ground.”

The United Nations and other relief agencies insisted that it will not cooperate with the Israeli -American aid distribution plan, saying it contradicts the basic humanitarian principles.

Netanyahu also said that the Israeli forces were working in a “massive fight” in Gaza and were making progress.

“We will control all areas of the tape, and this is what we will do,” he said.

He said that the “main goal” of the expanded attack is the defeat of Hamas and that it will lead to the release of 58 remaining hostages, up to 23 of them believed to be alive.

While the negotiators of Israel and Hamas remain in Qatar, both sides say there was no penetration in a new round of indirect talks on the shooting deal and the hostages.

Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza in response to the Hamas attack on the border on October 7, 2023, where about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken into account.

At least 53,475 people have been killed in Gaza since then, including 3,340 people since the Israeli attack resumed, according to the Ministry of Health in the region.
