Ecuador President Daniel Nuboa paved the way for casinos and gaming halls, as part of a large -scale referendum on the main issues surrounding the gambling of the South American nation.
The commander insists that the gambling activity will be limited to five -star hotels, with a 25 % tax tax applied to financing social programs, including school meals and malnutrition for children.
In a detailed connection on Elon Musk X Social media platform, Noboa explained that multiple issues will be addressed in the “Consulta Popular Popular” referendum (popular consultation).
“Today we take a new step: a popular consultation asks people about issues that were for years of popular importance and in the urgent need for change,” he said.
“These seven questions allow citizens to choose, once and for all, whether we, as a nation, we want to bury the past and contradict the hope of the future of peace and development.”
The question of gambling may legalize any form of gambling for the first time in 14 years.
The referendum is expected to be used on December 14, but there is a legal and constitutional process that must be followed, due to the possible amendments to the constitution, pending the result of the vote.
