The neighbor Poland was one of the most supportive in Ukraine since Russia’s invasion in 2022.
The Polish Deputy Prime Minister said that his arrival in the Internet service from Ukraine to the Internet service from Elon Musk can be reduced due to the veto in the aid law for refugees, as the Polish Deputy Prime Minister intends, as it deepens and undermines iron support from his neighbor, which flourishes the war.
Poland Ukraine pays the use of Starlink, which provides a decisive internet connection to the country and its army while trying to push Russian invading forces.
On Monday, the Polish President Carole Noruki objected to a draft law that extends financial support to the state provided to Ukrainian refugees and unveiled plans to limit their future access to the advantages of children and health care.
However, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs KRZYSZTOF GAWKOWSKI said that the veto legislation provided the legal basis for providing Starlink to Ukraine.
“This is the end of Starlink Internet, which Poland provides to Ukraine because it wages war,” he wrote on X.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk criticized the veto. But his government does not have a two -thirds majority in Parliament necessary to overcome this step.
“We cannot punish people for losing their job-especially innocent children. This is ABC of human decency,” wrote Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bak on X.
Gawkowski stressed that Nawrocki Veto is exposed to Ukraine’s use of Starlink.
“We want to continue paying the Internet via the Ukraine satellite. Unfortunately, this disastrous decision by the president makes matters to a large extent, and we will have to inform our partners that this support will end at the end of September,” he told PAP.
However, Noruki’s spokesman told Reuters news agency that it is still possible to restore the basis to pay the Starlink price if Parliament adopts a draft law proposed by the President by the end of next month.
Since Russia invaded 2022 to Ukraine, about a million refugees have settled in neighboring Poland. Most of them are women and children.
Poland is a major supporter of Ukraine and a major crossing road for Western assistance, but public attitudes towards the Ukrainians have been scared.
Noruki, a strong nationalist, promised to cut the advantages of social welfare for the Ukrainians during the campaign before winning the elections on June 1.
“I will not change my opinion and I think (this aid) should only be limited to the Ukrainians who are committed to working in Poland,” Noruki, who took office this month, told reporters on Monday.
Noruki also said that the Ukrainians who do not work in Poland should not be allowed to receive free medical treatment as they do now.
He said: “This puts us in a position in which the Polish citizens, in their country, are less treatment than our Ukrainian guests.”
Gawkowski said that Poland spent 77 million euros (90 million dollars) between 2022 and 2024 to buy and subscribe to the Starlink systems for Ukraine.
A Ukrainian diplomatic source told Reuters that Kiev was analyzing the potential impact of this movement on the Ukrainians in Poland, adding that they believed that “their rights would be less than other European Union countries.”
Ukrainian refugees are currently qualified to receive the 800 Zlotys family benefit (219 dollars) for each child if their children enroll in Polish schools. Other European Union countries, such as Germany, also suggested cutting the benefits of cutting recently.
In Poland, the president can propose bills and government legislation. The government likewise can prevent the president’s proposals.
