Sometimes, it seems, streaming culture goes beyond parody. How do you make fun of a world full of electric shock dog collars and girls’ bath water?

One film parodied streaming culture while delivering one of the scariest films in years. This movie is impasseand you can now stream this slice of perfect found footage for free on Tubi.

Paranormal slackness

hypothesis impasse It involves a washed-up streamer trying to regain some street cred by spending an entire night in a haunted house. He sets up cameras all over the house, ready to capture every terrifying moment on live streaming. But nothing can prepare him for what happens next: a group of ghouls who threaten to turn his live stream into a dead stream.

Cast impasse Noticeably Thin : Joseph Winter (known outside of this film for his role as… V/H/S/99) does a fantastic job as the lead, and does a great job of finding the relatable humanity hidden under layers of his character’s toxic dudebro persona. Meanwhile, Melanie Stone (who starred in… Little women And like winter in V/H/S/99) plays the role of a scary ghost that haunts our hero in more than one way. And Marty Collins (who is famous for starring American West) plays a police officer and an early 20th century man who died in his sleep.

Ghosts with most

impasse He swung for the fences and hit a crucial home run, earning a 92 percent rating on Rotten tomatoes. Critics praised the film for its B-movie charm and cheesy fun factor while praising the film’s creativity. After all, this is a found footage film that makes the very tired horror genre feel eerily new, something that many horror fans thought was completely impossible.

I have to agree: I’m one of those old horror hounds who feels like found footage has peaked The Blair Witch ProjectAnd most films in this genre (except for the V/H/S titles) disappoint me. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked impasse Set up a found footage premise (if anyone’s going to record themselves from countless angles, it’s a click-hungry YouTuber!) while introducing some real scares. Additionally, as someone who has always found streaming culture weird and incomprehensible, I thought the dramatic main character (the guy who risks his life for clicks) seemed very realistic.

Truly haunting horror

Speaking for myself, the film’s intro (with all its references to… My neighbor Culture) manages to elevate it above the average haunted house movie. I’m someone who never gets a real kick from movies like Paranormal activity Because it’s hard to be afraid of invisible monsters (and no, my crippling depression doesn’t count). but impasse It manages to deliver some visceral violence and palpable horror, instantly elevating it to a higher level than your average haunted house movie.

Would you like to like and subscribe? impasseOr will this horror movie make you hit the block button? You won’t know until you check the viral violence for yourself. If you had to make a spirited bet, I’d say you’d have a very good time!
